Stood Up

Argh!  I’ve been stood up by the butcher.  I waited for the call telling me when to bring them.  When it didn’t come I called, left a message and waited.  Nothing.  Paula’s been stood up too.  I’ve called Scott at Greaney’s Turkey Farm to call me back, most likely not until tonight.  If he can’t squeeze them in I’ll be doing it here tomorrow.  I can.  I have – hundreds of birds.  It’s some what warped but you know, you can warm your cold hands up while gutting a fresh killed, warm turkey.  In November, when your hands have been wet and it’s 30*, it feels good.  Please pray that Scott’s able to work my birds into his schedule.  It’s only 15 meat chickens and 2 turkeys.

My poults are sexed.  Six hens, one tom.  YEAH! I’m not sure my oldest hen will do over the winter.  If she looks good in the spring I’ll have 10 hens. This week I’ll get the fencing for their spring/summer/fall living space fenced in before the snow stays.  If Scott can take my birds I’ll talk to him about next year’s birds too.   Too many ifs.
